FILIPINAS IN MOTION: IMPACTING THE WORLD

IMAGINE. The Most Influential Filipina Women in the World gathered in one room. In Toronto. Where FWN will convene a very important policy gathering. Each with their protégés, Femtees.

PINAY POWER 2017 is finally here. Launched in 2006 at the Filipina Summit held at the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco, FWN envisioned the Pinay Power campaign - a dream with a meaningful purpose—to double the number of Filipina women leaders by 2020.

To implement the power campaign, FWN launched in 2007 the search for the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the United States Award™ and in 2013 expanded the search to include the Filipina women in the diaspora with the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award™ (Global FWN100™).

The annual FWN Summit brings together Filipina women global leaders, influencers, thinkers and public figures for discussions, learning journeys, “kwentuhan strategies” on how to succeed as multi-cultural professionals and private chats to ignite cooperation through public and private partnerships. The high-powered gathering is a vital part of FWN’s Pinay Power 2020 Mission. It is the leading forum of its kind in the Filipina global community, which inspires a renewed understanding of the Filipino culture’s emerging influence as a community.

The summit raises funds for its international advocacy that seeks to increase the power of Filipina women as leaders and policy makers at all levels in corporate, government, institutions and community organizations to achieve economic and social justice and women’s rights.

FWN’s programs include pipeline development of qualified next generation leaders to increase the odds that some will rise to the “president” position.

The Global FWN100™ Award Ceremony is the highlight of the Filipina Summit. Envisioned as a recognition "working" award. When selected, FWN asks each awardee to take action on two important FWN initiatives:

  1. "Re-invent herself by giving back" to the future of the worldwide Filipina community by becoming a Femtor - femtoring at least ONE protégé (or Femtee) thus helping develop our Filipina world community's talent pipeline, our next generation leaders, through FWN's FEMtorMatch program: http://www.femtormatch.org.
  2. Contribute her personal leadership story in FWN's Filipina Leadership Book Series. FWN aims to fill the gap in leadership literature about Filipina women's unique leadership qualities. FWN's 3rd book is coming up and awardees will be notified when to submit their chapter - at least 6,000 words.
  3. FWN has now published two books:

THE TIME HAS COME. This year we gather all the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World selected in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 to join together and plan our future Pinay Power 2020. All awardees are asked to attend the Filipina Summit to strengthen bonds, create synergy and create world impact of the power of Filipina connections.

FWN will honor THE 2017 INFLUENTIAL FILIPINA WOMEN to pay tribute to their work and their protégés collectively enhancing the rich history of our Filipina culture.

The past awardees will gather to help plan the strategy to get us to 2020.

Ms. Cajucom Bradbury has the experience and the connections to lead and implement the summit’s goals,” added Susie Quesada, president of FWN.

“2016 was a significant year for women in the U. S. and the Philippines presidential elections. Although the results were not what we hoped for, it is imperative that we continue to charge forward to make sure our causes are not pushed backward. Chairing the Filipina Summit’s Steering Committee is an opportunity to affirm our leadership roles and strengthen our global impact as direct contributors to the economy and social issues,” said Cajucom Bradbury. “I invite Filipina women worldwide especially our next generation leaders to join this important gathering. Filipina women leaders and organizers need to be connected, if we want to become effective and strategic. The annual FWN Leadership Summit is a place to re-energize, re-invent, re-group with women gathered to support each other successes. The summit will have separate discussions on political and legislative advocacy, entrepreneurship, corporate savviness, social issues advocacy, crafting the Filipina image and nurturing next generation leaders,” Ms. Cajucom Bradbury emphasized.

The 2017 Summit’s theme FILIPINAS IN MOTION: LEADING. ADVOCATING. IMPACTING speaks to the urgency of change especially as new paradigms are developing in Canada, the US and the Philippines administrations. Repositioning FWN and its advocacy for social and economic issues is the prime topic for the FWN members who are leaders representing 20 countries.

One of the highlights of the summit is the “FWN GivesBack” Program for Filipina Canadian young women to accelerate skills in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley Lab in the United States. More info: www.filipinasummit.org
